Hi,
I am new to ZoneMinder, so am unsure what to expect.
I have installed from source on latest stable debian.
I have managed to configure an 8-port bt878 card, and get modetect running well on /dev/video0.
It detects motion, captures the stills, highlights the changed areas from frame to frame, etc.
I can generate a video through the web interface and view it on another lan client. All great.
However, I thought I could configure it to monitor instead of modetect, but I dont get any video stream. I dont see any error messages in any of the zm log files.
If I stop zoneminder & use xawtv, I see good quality video from the camera.
Am I correct in thinking I should be able to see a live stream from the camera, if I setup the device as "Monitor", or do I misunderstand the terminology ?
If it is possible to view the live video, then I guess I have something wrong with my config, and I will post the outputs from lspci, xawtv -hwscan , etc etc for further debugging.
Thanks for a great piece of software. I am very impressed.

modetect working, but monitor not ?
Well, after a clean debian install, and following the instructions from the spanish debian+zoneminder howto (using google to translate some bits !) it all works
Next problem I have is that I can't see video from a remote client.
i.e. from within my lan, all is fine, but from outside, I get everything except the video. i.e. I can see events, stills, etc etc but no live video, and no video clips from the events.
Any suggestions ?
