Missing UI components when viewing remotely on Firefox

Post by aperry »

Hi all,

I'm a new ZM user. I started with the Viktor's Ubuntu-based virtual appliance, then upgraded to 1.24.2. I made some changes to get postfix working as well as fixed some date issues. Everything seems to be working perfectly right now with the following slightly odd behavior:

On my home network, when accessing the console using the machine's IP address everything is perfect.

However, when accessing the server across the internet (from work) using my dyndns-forwarded domain name (with associated port forwarding on my router), almost everything works but a few components in the UI are missing. This seems to be specific to Firefox, as it works okay on IE. A couple of examples of things that are missing in Firefox:

* Although I can watch event streams just fine, the progress bar at the bottom of the event page (below the streaming video) is missing
* When I click "stills", none of the still images appear at all and the controls don't do anything.
* In the event timeline, the preview window is present, but it doesn't seem to work. The timeline is clickable, but hovering over the events will not display a preview image.

One more thing to note, if I use the domain name (instead of IP address) inside my home network, everything also works fine. So the problem only manifests itself outside of my home network and on Firefox only.

Since this seems to be a Firefox specific thing that only happens remotely, I thought perhaps it could be an issue with cross-domain scripting being blocked by Firefox? I honestly have no idea. I don't think this is a timing issue because it seems to work fine again if I VPN to home and use the IP address.

I've verified this on two different computers at work, so i don't think the browser is having issues.

I've messed with the hosts file a little bit to see if it would help (no luck). I've looked for anything odd in Apache's virtual-host section. Not sure where else to look.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Aaron

Edit: The event timeline issue may not be related to this. But the first two are still broken.

Let me know if you have any feedback or troubleshooting tips!

Thanks in advance,
Aaron
