Hello
I have a ZoneMinder 1.23.3 system running under ubuntu which has a DVR card in it connected to a CCTV camera.
The system has been working fine and I have set up 3 zones on the one camera - the road, the pavement and property. I have set it to ignore the road but record when motion is detected on the pavement or property.
This has all been working fine for several weeks - we went away on holiday for 2 weeks and I was able to log in and view the events whilst away until after 17th October. After that date I got the login screen and entered my details and it said Logging In but stuck on that screen forever.
We got back yesterday and the same problem happened when I tried to log in locally so I rebooted the system. It allows me to log in now but all I see are blank events. I can view the CCTV picture by clicking on the monitor name in ZM but it doesn't seem to record anything anymore.
Today I tried to force an event to see what happens - this is the result:
36196 New Event Front_Garden Forced Web 10/28 14:16:21 0.00 0 0 0
36197 New Event Front_Garden Forced Web 10/28 14:16:22 0.00 0 0 0
36198 New Event Front_Garden Forced Web 10/28 14:16:27 0.00 0 0 0
36199 New Event Front_Garden Forced Web 10/28 14:16:37 0.00 0 0 0
As you can see everything is 0 and when I try to view the event I get a broken image.
It appears that the event is being created in the database but not directory or images are being created in /usr/share/zoneminder/events as the last event in this directory is 17th October.
Can anyone help? Why did it break when I was away and I haven't changed anything.
Thanks

Maybe is because of this...
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... monitor.3F
If that's the case, you might want to add some filters, 2... 1 to delete stuffs once the HDD reach a maximum... they say 95%, but you can put what ever, like 75% to be on the safe side... and 2, delete old entries more that a month or so...

Hello
Thank you for your post - I looked at the number of events and it was 31999 so I ran a filter to delete any very short events and it is working again now.
I have also gone into Options -> Paths and enabled ZM_USE_DEEP_STORAGE which hopefully will stop the problem re-occuring in the future.
Thanks for your help.

I'm sure some people would find it useful to know in advance that switching to/from "Deep Filesystem Hierarchy" will DELETE ALL YOUR CURRENTLY SAVED EVENTS, ARCHIVED OR OTHERWISE, FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY: "OH SH*T!!"browndog wrote:...I have also gone into Options -> Paths and enabled ZM_USE_DEEP_STORAGE which hopefully will stop the problem re-occuring in the future....
