Axis M1031W & Axis 221 - How to configure in ZM?

Post by craver84 »

Hi everyone, I have a problem with my M1031 and Axis221

Here are my tests with M1031

Still Pictures: /axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi

Code: Select all

PATH FPS kb/s
/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=20 4,9 300-360
/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=80 5,2 85-100
/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=320x240&compression=20 5,4 130-170
/axis-cgi/jpg/image.cgi?resolution=320x240&compression=80 5,8 25-30

MJPEG Video Streaming: /axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi

Code: Select all

PATH FPS kb/s
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=20 15 650-1300
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=80 15 350-420
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=320x240&compression=20 15,3 360-390
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=320x240&compression=80 15,3 110-125
the problem is that with MJPEG Video Streaming the image is not in real time but there is a delay between 2 and 15 seconds, and sometimes the TX is not stable (it goes to zero)

can anyone help me?

I can't understand why my Axis207 works great...

with this Remote Host Path
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480&compression=20
I've 15fps and a real time video, but it does't work with Axis 221 and M1031

M1011-W

Post by Arsenal2 »

I just received two Axis M1011-W and I will set them up tonight. I will post my findings.

What would you recommend?

mjpeg or mpeg4?

Delay

Post by Arsenal2 »

Ok.. Here is what I found. Using either MJPEG or MPEG4 streams there is a huge delay (5-15 seconds) at 640x480 or 320x240. I tried different compression levels from 10-90.... Same thing. I finally got it working but I am baffled why it only works at 5 fps.

Settings in zoneminder.
Max FPS 5
Max Alarm FPS 5
Remote protocol HTTP
Remote method Simple
Remote Host Path /axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=320x240&compression=20
Capture Width 320
Capture Height 240

Settings on the M1011W
Resolution 320x240
Compression 20
Video Stream - Max Frame Rate - Limited to - 5 fps

The delay is barely noticeable and motion capture works great. The question I have is why can my browser view at 30fps but zoneminder will only work at 5 fps? The network has nothing else on it and both wired and wireless act the same. This is my first try with an IP camera and zoneminder so is this normal? My setup is a PV-149 capture card with two analog cameras, two usb cameras, and now two Axis M1011-W cameras. Load is 0.38 and all cameras are running at 320x240.

Thanks

Have you tried setting the Max FPS to zero, and setting the framerate on the Axis cameras?

This has reduced the time delay for other Axis users.

The same thing that appened to me.

with this setting
/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi?resolution=640x480

Axis 2100, Axis 205 & Axis 207 ->> work fantastic, about 10-12 fps
Axis M1031 & Axis 221 ->> working badly, delay. max 5fps

I'm glad (sorry Arsenal2  ) that someone else has my same problem...
Maybe it is due to the cams, but one thing let me dubious:
why the live view of the cam (http://your-cam-ip) is perfect?

WOW!!! That worked! I removed the fps value in Zoneminder and bumped the cameras up to 15fps and everything works great. No delay. Awesome.

Thanks codabiz!

Hello all i am having issues with the 1031-W I finally got something to see other than a black screen when using the /mpeg4/media.amp directory and setting the max frame rate of the camera to 15fps. I get an image only one when i click on the monitor it rarely seems to update states i am getting 4fps but image does not change more than once every 30s.

I have started a new post about it here please read it to see the error messages i continue to get
http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15346

thanks in advance

Update once i closed the axis camera preview things began to work much better in Zoneminder however the image is still choppy and i still get these errors
