secBo CCTV System (Quality on H.264 format?)

Post by tina4733 »

Hello,

I have purchased a 16 channel CCTV DVR set in secBo.com and checked that they do have a cheaper version on MPEG4 format with 9 channels, what sort of quality can I expect a MPEG4 when comaring to a H.264 system? From the manual the secBo system uses 1TB HDD that can record about 2 weeks in highest quality, if I use MPEG4 instead, how long it can record? Anyone has a MPEG4 DVR so i can compare the length it can be recorded (at highest quality)?

cheers

H.264 is a codec(version) inside of mpeg4

This requires more explanation than kingofkya mentioned or I'll go into, but mpeg4 is a container format, the codecs used inside of it vary. H.264 is essentially a flavor of mpeg4, if that makes any sense. It's a newer flavor, so it may or may not provide better results. I've heard it's good for smaller data streams, but haven't successfully tested it yet.
