Quad channel hardware mpeg encoder card?

Post by ThaddeusW »

I am looking to see if I can buy a capture card that supports the V4L2 MPEG Encoder API and has four analog inputs. I would like to capture at about 10-15 fps for two cameras that will be set to constant record and two that will be set to mocap. These are the requirements for the setup.

Any ideas? My Happauge Impact VCB is slow and buggy and I would like something that doesn't load the CPU down and can provide me with a clean and steady mpeg stream.

If this idea is a problem, is there a decent frame grabber that can record 4 channels with at least 15 fps?

Thanks.

Posting the question under the right forum topic might help so I moved it for you.
ZM does not support hardware mpeg encoding.
For 15fps capture for two cams you will require a card with two chips, one for each cam. A consistent 10 fps should be doable with a single chip.
