1 device - 2 monitors (or independent zones)...

Post by dcbour »

Any thoughts on how to do this...
I want to set up one of my cameras for dual purposes:

Speed monitoring in front of the house (with zones, configured to determine car direction) that will also then capture the plate on the vehicle with matching timestamp from another camera that is hidden roadside. This won't trigger any external alarms, email, etc...simply record the events and weekly or something, I'll download the results, collect the matching video and send off to the local speed enforcement until we start seeing a reduction in front of our house. The post speed limit is currently 50kph...dropping within the next couple of weeks to 40kph however, our hand calculated averages depending on the time of day vary from 60kph to over 100kph. Not exactly kid friendly nor safe.

The second purpose is front yard (more specifically vehicles in front). I've averaged 3-4 vehicle breakin's a year and in the past two months now, had 4. Needless to say, I've reached my limit and have started to put in cameras. Using two cameras, I monitor for anyone who steps onto my driveway from the sidewalk. I'm going to add an external trigger to the system to also chime the house alarm by day, and at night, when it's armed, trip it. I'm hoping that will reduce the number of vehicle breakin's because the cost of the thefts and repairs has by far exceeded the cost of deploying some cameras now, never mind capture the data to find out who is doing it and hopefully catch a few offenders.

From what I can figure though, I can only create one monitor per device. Any suggestions. Am I stuck simply adding another camera?
