Security/Video Surveillance Licensing?

Post by phiota »

Hi,

Looking to maybe start a security / video surveillance company in the US (just the security surveillance monitoring not installation). Do you know if I need to get licensed by any State/City governments to provide this service? Also if any regulations I need to watch out for? Would welcome any information (books, web sites...) that you think I should read up on this if any.

thanks,

John

Also in the US, you have to have a journey man Low Voltage license to install any Security wiring as far as I am aware and be insured or bonded.

Thanks for the reply. From Wikipedia I found the different state rules / regulations for security guards. Not sure if it applies also to those that do the remote monitoring on surveillance cameras.
