This is my first post here; yes, I did read the sticky posts at the top of this sections.
But just to get to where I am now, has required hours of googling and reading, and my eyes feel like somebody emptied an ashtray into each one--so, please, can I ask just ONE stupid question before reading the loooooooong trouble-shooting section.
It's an old machine, p3 866Mhz, Wintv 878 card, xubuntu os, 1.24 zm, and it's working ok. BUT, why do I get so many 600 frame sections in the event list when there obviously was no event (I assume, from a 0/0 score).
277 Event-277 2010-02-15 09:10:00 600.05 2986/0 0/0 X
I have to scan down the list and skip all the 0/0 events until I find something like 28/59. Obviously, I'm missing something simple.
I promise, I'll go back to reading, reading, reading after this one stupid question.

Yes, that's right! [slapping forehead]jameswilson wrote:i would suggest you are using 'mocord' mode and it sound like you want 'modect' mode.
I am VERY grateful that you caught my error. And I _know_ that I should just shut up, and just continue being grateful.
But really! "modect" means MOTION detect and "mocord" means MONITOR + record?!?!?!?!
In other words, "mo" means both MOTION and MONITOR in the same dropdown box on the console screen? Am I the only idiot who has ever gotten caught by this, or are there 10,000 others over the years?
I suggest that the monitor display has a box right under that setting, that says "Add new monitor" (I refer to the WIDTH of the text), so if you changed the names to "Monitor+Record" and "Motion Detect" it would not change the layout of the web page one bit! Just a thought.
But, honest, I am VERY grateful for you catching this for me. Thanks!

I dont think your alone, but all the monitor states ar elisted in the docs.
modect is as you say motion detection.
mocord is modect & record.

Yes, the docs are very complete. I just got saturated to the point where I couldn't read any more. I think the people who provide the excellent support, like yourself, probably can't even imagine how confusing it is to be a newbie with zoneminder. The docs might be an example of "more is less", if we can turn that old phrase around. Maybe tooltips?! Still, it's an amazing piece of software, and I'm very grateful for having it, and for your help.jameswilson wrote:John
