STRICT_VIDEO_CONFIG and xawtv

Post by thelight »

Running zm 1.19.4 if I try to start zm without STRICT_VIDEO_CONFIG disabled zoneminder dies with an ERR [Failed to set picture attributes: Invalid argument] error as stated in the FAQ. However, if I run xawtv first, then start zoneminder with STRICT_VIDEO_CONFIG enabled it starts no problem. If this is simply due to zoneminder thinking the video hasnt worked, when it actually has, what does xawtv do to change this situation?

Essentially ZM just loads whatever values are already set, changes the ones it needs to and puts them all back. If one of the existing values are bogus then this will be restored.

It sounds like xawtv is a little more comprehensive in what it does. If we could find the offending setting then I could include that in ZM.
