red source text

First I am using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I installed zoneminder V 1.24.2. My logitech 4000 works in cheese and camorama but not in ZM ( the source is in red text),monitor in orange I increased the available memory to zm per a post I read but still no go. Anybody got another idea? Thanks in advance I was told to post logs . As I am rather new using Linux , where are the logs I need to post?

All loges are under /var/log or /tmp
(You may need to be root to see logs)
sudo gedit file.txt

Also ubuntu come with really nice log application.
System --> Administration --> Log File Viewer

look in the zm logs for errors as well as syslog and messages.
