Moving ZoneMinder to a new Drive

Post by protrex »

Hey Guys,

I currently have a 2.8ghz Core 2 Duo with 4GB Ram and a 7200RPM 1TB HD running CentOS 5.5. I am monitoring 11 IP Cameras at CIF. At times with lots of motion (i.e. business hours) I am seeing high load averages on the system, especially when viewing montage. RAM utilization is fine, sitting at around 1.5gb in use.

In order to combat this I am planning on throwing a quad core CPU in the system and replacing the Boot/Database drive with a 128GB SSD in order to improve performance and make writes to the MySQL database faster.

I will be adding a Drobo to store recordings on for redundancy. I plan on fresh installing CentOS on the SSD and then moving my existing ZoneMinder install over to the new drive. Aside from doing a clean install from source, moving over the MySQL database, and my necessary camera control (Foscam) perl scripts, what else do I need to transfer to the new HD.

Specifically directory structures. Does anyone have any advice?
