zm and zmviewer tuning

I have 18 analog cameras connected to one zm installation. About 6 remote clients that run zmviewer looking at all the streams Everyday or so at least one of the clients shows "lost connection to server". Any tips on how to make these things a little more stable. I upped the max_connections in mysql, but Im also looking for apache tweaks...Also, is there a better client to use for a large (42in) display monitor
