Recommend net cam - solved
Recommend net cam - solved
I need to do a quick and cheep zm setup. I have a home with wireless setup that needs to be monitored quick. Can anyone recommend an ip cam that I can pickup for about $150 that is one of the preconfigured cams? I really need this to be as plug and play as possible. The plan is to use Ubuntu 10, 2.8mh Dell, 1/2g of memory, 80g hard drive.
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,
Tom

Trendnet cams are pretty cheap and plug and play.
I've used a few of these with good results...

IP501 and IP501W (wireless)
$129 from Newegg

butlerm1977,
I currently have a Trendnet TV-IP100W. I have been unable to get it to work with Zoneminder. For the price, I'm happy with the quality through a browser using the the cams web server. I'd love to get 2 cams working. Have you used the TV-IP110W or TV-IP100W with Zonemider? If so, any tips you can provide would be helpful.

Tom - I just ran into your original post back in May and think your issues with this camera boil down to basic settings. Search "TV-IP100" and/or post your source tab settings to the original post. This camera has been configured to work in the past. I should let you know that I haven't used this camera but the settings seem fairly straight forward so I'll take a try to help.
The whole ugly truth . . . .

Yeah, you can hijack your own thread. Good start but there are some problems: Wireless cams usually require some type of authentication unless you have it disabled (not a good idea). On the source tab at "remote host name" line you'll need to insert your userid and password in this form <userid>:<password>@192.168.1.5 so an example entry would look like this: admin:admin@192.168.1.5; Next, your remote path needs to be shortened to just "/video.cgi". If /video.cgi doesn't work for you then try /mjpeg.cgi, or /image.cgi (usually provides slower frame rates) then try all three without the slash in front.
have look at this, suggests PCRE off: http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Conceptronic
I don't understand the "link: no", or the "half duplex" entries on the camera side, I'm guessing that isn't right if you have a connection and can see an image.
Give this a try, be patient inbetween changes so the warup frames are used up and post back
