Error, failed to query crop /dev/video0: Invalid argument

Post by xtwister161 »

*update:video capture card works, webcams dont!*

I have 3 devices, 2 different logitech usb cameras and 1 hauppauge 4-input component PCI card, and I can't get any of them to work!

I've spend 20 hours trying to get it to work, but I'm out of ideas. At first I has 64-bit Ubuntu, but then installed x86, same problem.

So I have 3 device hooked up.
video0 = webcam
video1 = capture card
video2 = webcam

All 3 devices work on cheese.

When i run

Code: Select all

zmu -d /ev/video0 -q -v
or

Code: Select all

zmu -d /ev/video2 -q -v
I get:

Code: Select all

Error, failed to query crop /dev/video0: Invalid argument

Code: Select all

Error, failed to query crop /dev/video2: Invalid argument
I only have a valid answer from video1 (which doesnt work either):

Code: Select all

I have tried many various outputs. I tried

Code: Select all

sudo chmod 4755 /usr/bin/zmfix
Here are some log outputs.
Video0&2 error log:

I also get this error:

Code: Select all

07/01/10 19:05:58.597412 zmwatch[1794].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0002', 2: No such file or directory]
The monitor for all the videos always show up red, but on some settings of video1 I like a black box, but on the bottom it says 0 fps, or sometimes it looks like a broken image box and just says "Waiting 192.168.1.128..."

I have come across this http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=60854, but I am not capable of recompiling zoneminder, and others said it didn't fix their problem

var/log/messages gives me this for video1:

Code: Select all

Jul  1 19:06:03 security zmdc[1764]: INF [Starting pending process, zmc -d /dev/video1]
Jul  1 19:06:03 security zmdc[1764]: INF ['zmc -d /dev/video1' starting at 10/07/01 19:06:03, pid = 1821]

Jul 1 19:06:03 security zmc_dvideo1[1821]: INF [Got signal 6 (Aborted), exiting and forcing backtrace]
UPDATE:
I got the video capture to work, i had to use version 1 for capture method. I didn't expect the capture card to give me much trouble, but the usb webcams are still up to no good.

What PCI card are you using; exact make and model. Are you sure this is working?

It was a Hauppauge Impact VCB 64405.
After spending endless hours to try to get it up and even editing the code and recompiling I have given up on it.
