Hi,
I would like to use zoneminder with my 3 existing IP cameras.
My question is, can anyone recommend a linux distro on which to run my system. I understand you can 'get it to work' with most but if you were starting from scratch which one would you use?
I have RH 7 and 8 on disk but can download any of course.
Ideally one that installs easy and has as many of the dependancies loaded 'out of the box' would be great as I know my way round linux but am far from comfortable with it.
Any help appreciated,
Seabro
General ZM Query
You could most certainly try out Ross Merlin´s LiveCD available for download.
The distro is based on Mandrake.
This is a start from scratch, all hands down, most easy and well tutored entrance into ZM for people like me that have had little contact with linux but did know "my way around" in a way too. Everything necessary is in there just pop the CD, make the PC boot from it and follow instructions (Kudos Ross!). Be careful to follow the minimun system requirements being the most common at least 256 of ram.
The current LiveCD I believe has version 1.19.5 as 1.20.1 is yet to be officially realeased and packed, but I can tell you, version 1.19.5 works out very, very well. I would sure give this a try first and let the experts iron out the newest version first too
Regards!
