ZMLArch and megapixel cams

Post by kp4djt »

Folks,
I have have ACTi ACM-5611, works great, once I figured out the set up in the source screens, I have the unit doing great video. Not too much delays,
and 640x480 looks very good, also it can really see things under very low
light levels.

Now I have tried to do 1280 x 1024, but I can not get any video. The log just
says that it is trying to restart the camera:
Aug 27 22:52:57 zmhost01 zmwatch[3001]: INF [Restarting capture daemon for acti, time since last capture 258 seconds (1282963977-1282963719)]
Aug 27 22:52:57 zmhost01 zmdc[6015]: INF ['zmc -m 8' started at 10/08/27 22:52:57]
Aug 27 22:52:57 zmhost01 zmc_m8[6015]: INF [Debug Level = 0, Debug Log = <none>]
Aug 27 22:52:57 zmhost01 zmdc[2912]: INF ['zmc -m 8' starting at 10/08/27 22:52:57, pid = 6015]
Aug 27 22:52:58 zmhost01 zmwatch[3001]: INF ['zmc -m 8' starting at 10/08/27 22:52:57, pid = 6015]
Aug 27 22:52:58 zmhost01 zmdc[2912]: INF [Command 'zmc -m 8' removed from pending list at 10/08/27 22:52:58]

Has anyone been able to get this resolution going? I think I have seen
some indicate as so, but I do not see anything as to what was done.

The two higher resolutions than 640x480 are 1280x720 and 1280x1024.
Neither one of them works. Interesting thing is if I leave ZM at 640x480
and up the camera to 1280x1024 I see half a live frame when I go to look
at the live video in ZM.

Any ideas as to what I need to do in order to use the higher resolution?

Seems to be the shared memory problem, just look at the FAQ.

or give the output of:

$cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmall

$cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax

I do not see the usual errors in the error log that I see when it is a memory problem. I have them cranked way up there right now. Here they are:
[kp4djt@zmhost01 ~]$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmall
268435456
[kp4djt@zmhost01 ~]$ cat /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
402653184

It just appears to not want to process the larger image size for some reason, the camera has two settings 1280x720 and 1280x1024, it will not capture either one.
