Ok, i set up some remote access if anyone wants to check it out and give it a try/give me some suggestions.

First - here is the address to my camera:
http://linuxmce.homelinux.com:8201
(username: guest, password: guest)
and here is the path directly to the mjpeg stream:
http://linuxmce.homelinux.com:8201/video1.mjpg
At this point, you should see that A) my IP camera works, and B) I know the proper path the MJPEG stream

Now, check out my ZM page:
http://linuxmce.homelinux.com:8200/zoneminder
(username:guest, password:guest)
(Guest account can edit monitors)
Now, you will see that zoneminder simply won't display the mjpeg steam!

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!
(I am 10000000% sure of the paths, I know this IP server inside and out)

Sorry, messed up on one of my port forwards (I have 3 routers + a linux box router to forward through)...
Its all sorted now, and the URLs above should work now
(My DSL modem doesn't support loopback, so I didn't bother testing earlier.. I just verified through a free proxy this time)

thanks!

Looks all in order to me. Maybe try the secondary http port or access name for stream 2 in the path.

Thanks

I've already tried the secondary HTTP port (8220), as well as the second stream (/video2.mjpg) - but still I always end up with a blank in ZM :(

Finally! Got it working!

In my Vivotek settings, the resolution was set to 352 x 240 - but in zoneminder, I was trying to capture at 320x240. I changed my ZM setup to capture at 352x240 and now all is good!

I do have a question now, though.... I was unaware that the capture resolution in ZM had to match exactly the resolution of the camera (otherwise, wouldn't the aspect ratio option be redundant, as if they have to be the same then of course the aspect ratio would be the same). So is the case, will I always have to exactly match the resolution of the MJPEG stream?

thanks

Yes, all source settings must match. Good job by the way!

Yes, ZM will cross it's arms and refuse to work if the resolution of the cam
and the source page do not match.

Now if I can just figure out what I have to do in order to capture 1280x1024.
I will then have all of mine under control.
