webcam horizontal hold

Post by nixnooi »

I was using an older version of everything but disk issues had me reinstall - so here I am on 1.24.2.

My (very old) webcam now has many 1/2 on 1/2 off frames (and accordingly alarms). Basically the camera is aimed at a chair. Every now and again the "system" goes though a phase where every 2 or 3 minutes it alerts because the image is 1/2 on and 1/2 off the frame. Instead of having the chair in the middle of the shot - it has the head 1/2 of the chair on the end of the frame and the tail of the chair on the start of the frame. It does not do this ALL the time (thank goodness) but it is in phases. First I thought it was bad light ... but it does it during the day as well.

Any one have any ideas? I would post sample pictures if I knew how.

You can upload pics to box.net and hit share link. I have had this happen on my noname webcams and I haven't had succes fixing it but first I would try changeing the color more secam ntsc pal ... also web cams cat be out of phase because they don't use the ac voltage.

I am thinking this little webcam is just to old, but it looked much better in the previous version (of everything - OS and zoneminder) The focus was better even.
