Will my setup work?

I am trying to setup a very basic setup to monitor the front door and back of my house. I would like this setup to email me pictures when there is an alarm in one of these areas. The plan is that this will allow my wife to get an email in the night to let her know if someone is outside while I am not home. I plan use the wireless for now since the laptop has built in wireless. I currently have ubuntu 10.4 installed and Zone Minder is up and running. I was trying to get it to work with my usb camera last night with no luck. From everything I have read this seems relatively straight forward, but I want to verify before I sink a couple hundred dollars into this.

I am thinking of using the following equipment:

Acer 3610 laptop (Pent M 1.6 784Mb ram and 40Gig HDD)
2 x Foscam FI8904W

Because it is the front door I would really like a way to turn this on and off easily when I am home. I was thinking a switch by the door or now that I am thinking about it an email sent or something like that would work as well.

Edit: It seems that the best way to do this by email is with Procmail, I have some stuff to try, but this sounds like the best method to turn it on and off.
