Can't connect any webcam

Post by Vaidaskz »

I have bad luck with connecting any webcam to ZoneMinder v1.24.2 under Ubuntu 10.10. I've tried two webcams: integrated in Asus F3Jc notebook 05e1:0501 Syntek Semiconductor Co., Ltd DC-1125 Webcam and external USB Trust webcam 0c45:6028 Microdia Typhoon Easycam USB 330K (older). Both works with Cheese (simple webcam app). Then I try to make probe from ZM, it always write Unable to probe network cameras, status is '127'. It prints it immediately, like even not trying to connect to webcam. I would appreciate any ideas, what is missing....

make sure you have the cameras set to local not remote or ffmpeg.

also with zm try to get them working at there lowest resolution first then scale up.

about the "127 status" - I have no idea what that means, ZM shows it every time when i click the "Probe" button, no matter if the cam works or not. I just ignored that and tried to view the image by clicking the link under "Name". Btw I set the camera to remote as it is based somewhere else.
