CPU utilization and alarm check method

Post by servbg »

Hi.

I've noticed, that if Alarm Check Method is set to Alarmed Pixels, CPU utilization for one channel is around 8-10 percent. Setting it as Blobs starts to use the CPU at 100%. Zoneminder is latest version, on Fedora Core 13 x86. Does someone has similar behavior of monitor zone alarm check method?

What resolution, fps, and what cameras.

Also general advice turn on frame skip.
in under the camera settings (note it skips frames only for motion detection.)

OK, frame skip applies only to mocord and record, so, i'm using mocord. I'm sure I don't get the meaning of "how many frames should be skipped in the recorded events" because I don't want to skip frames in the recorded events.
Resolution is 640x480, 8 port bt878 card, 25FPS per channel, different cameras, from 420TVL to 600 TVL...

I'm using basic settings on that setup, something like new install, compatible capture card, ordinary cameras, nothing special... intel platform, ... something else?

Frame skip will not affect recording it only effects how manny frames are analised for motion so if recording at 5fps with a frame skip of 4 only checks for motion 1 time per second but still records 5 fps reduceing load by a signeficant amount

If you wanted to skip frames in recording you would just change fps not by adding a value to frame skip.
