ZoneMinder newbie

Post by buddyp »

And relatively new to LINUX, I am an application programmer with years of experience, but very little in this arena. I am wanting to help my brother out with some security issues he is having and thought this would be the place to start.

I have a little SCO experience from years ago and was wondering what flavor of LINUX is the best choice for Zone minder? Is Ubuntu best or should I consider something else since I will be starting from scratch on this project?

Opinions are appreciated.

Ubuntu 10.10 server or Debian 5.0

Since Ubuntu is based off of debian they both should be quite similar.

Rock solid on Fedora 12; will be rebuilding against 14 any day now to get the advantage of libjpegturbo which is part of the distribution.

I will second debain unstable and ubuntu 10.10

fedora in my opnion is not good for a production system.(Its very beta) Redhat or centos would be better but most of the time there libs are too old for zm.

Hi!
I am using ZMlarch same time.
(two servers, almost 16 cams) It,s very simple to install, and works OK.
