Toshiba IK-WD01A no video

Post by speedkreature »

Problem:

No video displayed. Not even a box where the video should be displayed.

Scenario:

Camera model: IK-WD01A.
ZM Version: 1.24.2
OS Version: Ubuntu 10.04.1 AMD64
ZM Source: Installed from Ubuntu repository

Other Information:

* I've read the wiki posting at http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.php/Toshiba and done a search for in the forums using the model number.
* I can view the RTSP stream using Totem and gstreamer.
* I can view any of the MJPEG feeds using firefox
* I noticed an address similar to the one listed repeatedly in zmwatch.log is also in the ZM web console at Options -> System -> SHM_KEY. It's actual value is 0x7a6d0000.
* I do not have a means to post a screen shot of the web console.

From zmwatch.log:

Code: Select all

01/04/11 08:56:07.825691 zmwatch[7967].ERR [Can't get shared memory id '7a6d0002', 2: No such file or directory]

Misc.

This is a race against time for me. I and another admin are working on setting up a DVR. He is opting for a proprietary solution. Money will be spent either way--either licensing or a donation so cost isn't really an issue on this. The budget has been set and that budget will be spent whichever way we go.
If any one thinks this would be easier using a different distro, feel free to including that information as well.

Edit your /etc/sysctl.conf and paste the following settings at the end of the file:

kernel.shmall = 2048000
kernel.shmmax = 4194304000

Save the file, and you have two options:

- reboot the computer
- run 'sysctl -p' to set the shared memory, then restart zoneminder.

Post results!

Glorius!

That is one of the benefits of setting this up manually...this step would have already been done.

Thank you so much for the quick response. We'll test this out for about a week, but I think we have a winner! :D

You still have work to do, tweaking the system, adding zones, etc. It will work better in a server distribution, I think.
Glad to help! ;) ... don't forget to donate to this marvel of project!
