Time Lag

WE have a 6 camera system running on 2GB RAM and a pentium Dual core Chip running at 2.5 Ghz

would there be any improvement if we put a core 2 duo 2.4 Ghz chip in ?

What is the rest of your system / setup

Time lag might be because the capture card you are using is of the single chip pico2000 type,

But as it stands your system is more than powerful enough to do zoneminder perfect,

are you running any other application on the system as well..

more information needed to make a better guess

I have an 8 chip card of the BT878A varietyâ€¦
only 5 camera's
am getting a sixthâ€¦
We are using Gnome and viewing the camera's through the systemâ€¦
Is that more intensive than just viewing with another PC ?
I will probably put in the core2duo anyway just to seeâ€¦
I suppose we were hoping to run a screen as people do from the CCTV system to a publicly viewable monitorâ€¦.
