Monitor mode without continuous streaming?

Post by Berlic »

Hello!

In monitor mode zoneminder continuously streams video from my cameras.
Even if you don't look at the camera in zoneminder, it still continue to stream.
I use Wi-Fi cameras and this continuous streaming eats up lots of bandwidth!

Is there any way to force zoneminder connect to video stream only when I select camera for viewing?

Thanks in advance.

Change running state to "stopped" and then "restart" when you want to use ZM.

bb99,
this solution is not very handy.

I want ZM to connect to camera only when this camera is selected in ZM interface.

In out case ZM is always in use, but operators use several (not all) cameras for live viewing.
I just don't want ZM wastes network bandwidth for cameras that operators are not looking at.

I would also like to see a feature that monitor would not use bandwidth when it is not watched. I have camera behind 3G network and it is not watched continuously. It is big waste of bandwith to retreive images all the time. Is there a reason for this?

Simply click on "Monitor", select "None" untick Enabled.
