china ptz 7" domes

Post by bovnet »

Just upgraded from ye old livecd at my last address with fixed cameras. Info passed the the police on 2 incidents in the area to place people around scene.

Tried two 7" china ptz cameras on the box but the software seemed full of bugs in the ptz functions so tried current livecd's but no go despite trying several vga= options no display. Followed wiki ubuntu install guide and got a working box up with the ptz motion working from the web interface. Using pelco-d

Questions

1. Should i be able to use the motion tracking ? Doesnt seem to work.
2. On presets i can save position but not the zoom. should i be able to.
3. Are some kind of tours programmable ?
4. Moving the camera via web gui isnt the greatest experiance do people usually add a joystick keypad control in addition to zm ?

Yes you should be able to though it a little fiddly.

Yes this should be a function in the camera to save zoom level with the position when a preset is created.

ZM does not have the ability to send tours, this is usually done through the camera menu I believe but honestly I have never used them. I might have to look into this when I think of it and I'm in front of one of the domes.

I absolutely Agree. There is not the ability as of yet use a joystick but it's certainly on my future todo list.

Incase it helps anyone after much trying and no go with getting the serial to rs485 going using setserial and ssty. I got lucky with adding /dev/ttyS0 base_baud 2400 to /etc/serial.conf and starting the seriald service.

For the motion tracking what should i fiddle with ?

Any pointers on storing zoom ?
