Want to back-up configs, stuck at <device_path> ?

Post by TwinCams »

Hi all, as I continue to learn Linux & the wonderful Zoneminder, I have this basic question that I can't seem to find the answer to in the documentation.

Where is the default device path? I still cannot seem to place my finger on it after reading the documentation a few times and spending like 2+hours going through my File System???? :?:

Thanks again MasterTheKnife.

But could this be my problem.....when I tried to run the command:
zmu -d /dev/video0 -q -v I get this: Error, failed to open video device /dev/video0: No such file or directory.

So I did: cd /dev and ls -a and the only directory that begins with the letter D is, Disk.

So, hmmmmm, where is my device path??

....Not sure if these are related or not, but on the Source Tab of my Monitor, my Remote Host Path is: img/video.mjpeg ?

If you did cd /dev , then you're already in the device folder and wouldn't be looking for something beginning with a "D".. are you able to change into the /dev directory or no? If you did, you'd be looking for video0... if that's not there, you system isn't recognizing the device..

What distribution and version are you running?

"uname -r"

Ah! Good point Jbmia, I should be looking for Video0, which there's none in my /Dev directory. :?
