what sort of load is the machine under and how many cams do you have on it?

about 25% CPU and 5 camera's intel core duo processor and 2 GB RAM

whats the actual 15m load?

if you lower the framerates does it continue?

the record frame rate is 3 per second

the display is 15 per second.

All was fine on a previous build same rig but with LESS ram i.e. I have more ram in it now.
