Silly Question

Post by SuperSpy »

It seems trivial, but I can't find the information anywhere in the documentation as to what exactly the 'Archive' option really does for events. As far as I can tell, it just flags them as 'Archived' and nothing else changes. Is that all it's supposed to do?

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

Yeah I read that document. So in that case all the archive setting is for is to use as a flag? I presume that would come in handy just to keep filters like the default PurgeWhenFull from running on events of interest.

I was thinking it was more of a method to remove older events from the database without deleting them, or something, in order to speed up db queries. I guess the terminology just had me confused.
