postfix will not send test email

Running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS with ZM 1.24.2
Checked the steps documented on "How to install and configure Postfix as a Gmail SMTP relay for ZoneMinder email filter events"
http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... ter_events.
Since the installation procedure is different for Ubuntu in some points to CentOS
I followed the steps from this POST:http://www.zoneminder.com/forums/viewto ... it=postfix
which is very well documented. Thanks virtualgibe
All steps go exactly as documented but the test email: sendmail yourmail@gmail.com
the cursor goes down one line and just hangs.

Stopped ZM and repeated sendmail test but same error

I think I am getting the correct response from: postmap -q smtp.gmail,com:587 /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd
userID:password (for the gmail account)

Any help or ideas would be appreciated

Corrected the main.cf file with the correct path for
smtp_tls_CAfile =

No longer get any error in the mail.log file. However sendmail is still not working. The cursor just moves down one line and hangs on the left blinking. No email gets received.

I am stumped. Any ideas??????????????

Tried using my ISP SMTP server which did not work either. Turns out my ISP is using SSL Could that be the problem? I checked my modem log with ISP and it appears that something is going out but is probably being ignored.

Any ideas out there?
