I use artic silver, once it gets hot acts as a good adhesive.

I didn't know it had adhesive properties. I've just ordered some Arctic Silver 5. I think that's the proper stuff. There were some cheaper "Arctic Silver", but I doubt it's genuine.

If it doesn't bond good enough, I've got some TIM-clean which usually removes it pretty easily. Then I'll just use the glue.

Now that the machine is pretty much physically constructed, I'm going to begin creating the YouTube video tutorial using this awesome guide. I'll most probably create a new thread focusing on the installation and configuring of ZoneMinder for the video tutorial.

I thought so. It is a better heatsink for the big chip anyhow, so no loss really.

And that would have been my mistake, only looking at the first card in your link and not scrolling down. Your right adding heat sinks only increases the efficiency of the card; can't go wrong there.

I have never read any comments on this forum about energy efficiency so here's my 2cent.
The Athlon XP 2200+ is a 72W cpu. Add on the power for the mobo, graphics and other peripherals and you will be lucky to have a machine using less than 120W. In the UK with electricity at 12p/KwHr that is £126 per year.
I have an older Athlon 64 in a AM3 machine running ZM but I have just ordered a 270u (25W), it will pay for itself in a year.

Nice input. Well I won't be giving this to my Mum for X-Mass now anyhow, as I doubt it will be ready in time. So she won't have to worry about her electricity bill.

I think I'll keep it for myself. It seems like a good introduction to Linux server systems. Very educational and very useful at the same time. The electricity costs will certainly be something I shall focus on in the future.

Thanks for the link for the small 8 heatsinks. Fits nicely on my kodicom 8800 clone:

For the big chip i used 4 small heatsinks i already had unused.
