logitech c525 works in mjpg streamer but not in zm?

Post by Pure L »

Ok...I have a really old, pentium3 733mhz computer and am trying to run one usb webcam (logitech c525) with zoneminder.

I can view the (remote...not local) stream using localhost on port 8080 and action equals "stream" just fine (NOTE: putting this in link form was tripping the spam filter).

The camera also works in gvpcview and cheese, etc.

However, when I try to view the stream in zoneminder it's all black.

I should note that the text for "monitor" (under the 'function' heading) is yellow and the text for "localhost" (under the 'source' heading) is red.

I'm willing to bet that that means something isn't playing nicely here.

Is this a shared memory issue? I did some searching and probably went overboard by doing this;

Code: Select all

kernel.shmall = 33554432
kernel.shmmax = 536870912
I should note that this awesome computer tops out at 512 MB of RAM (which is what I have in it).

I was under the assumption that running one lousy webcam shouldn't be too much to ask with this configuration though.

I'd think that using 'local' as opposed to 'remote' would be better but I haven't figured out what those settings might be.

Thanks for any advice.

Code: Select all

Nice!

To be honest, I even looked through that thread earlier and apparently missed those settings.

I'm definitely getting something now.

However.....

Where is this elusive "/cgi/bin" he speaks of?

Thanks, bb99!

The one he got to work was "/usr/lib/cgi-bin/". I believe defined in "/etc/apache2/conf.d/zoneminder.conf". But if yours is working don't bother messing with it.

Mods.

Please......

About these newbie posts being "too spammy"....

That setting seems 100% backwards in terms of who it's working against.

Wouldn't most new posts be about their settings and those posts would contain "offsite links"?

I've got this working (I think, anyway) and I just tried to post all the things I did and am getting the "Your post looks too spamy for a new user, please remove off-site URLs." message.

Weak.

If someone removes this setting for me, I'm happy to post all of my working settings and not just the images below.

Thanks.
