Installed zoneminder using apt-get and the install appeared to go fine. It took care of 99% of the install and I just had to follow the few additional steps to get the GUI up. All monitors that I set up in zoneminder are functioning fine except PTZ control for two Trendnet IPV400's. I also have an Ubiquiti Aircam and a Trendnet IPV110 that work fine. total of 4 cams.
Extra Debug level set to 5 and the logs in /tmp and /var/log show no errors.
When I use a direction arrow, /var/logs/syslog shows only that the driver is in use by zmcontrol:
Dec 9 12:44:17 NVRcam zmcontrol[14116]: INF [Starting control server 2/TVIP400]
Dec 9 12:44:17 NVRcam zmcontrol[14120]: INF [Control server 2/TVIP400 starting at 11/12/09 12:44:17]
but no movement
Control movement of the two Trendnets work fine when using the WebGUI. Followed sfpeter's instructions to the tee for installing these Trendnets. In fact I had the Trendnet PTZ working fine on the same machine using Ubuntu 10.04 and zoneminder 1.24.2. **
All the Trendnet setup/settings match. I've also tried moving the cam around from the command line while watching the logs:
'sudo zmcontrol.pl --id 2 --command=moveRelLeft'
Logs show same as above, no errors and nothing moves at the cam.
If I at least had something showing up in any of the logs when I click the direction arrows, I could bite down on it and figure out (my screw up) and apply a fix.

My only recollection of my previous Trendnet zoneminder setup is that I did struggle to get PTZ working. But back then, I had log messages to assist me. And previously, I'm pretty sure the fix was getting the driver file name to match the monitor setup and I vaguely recall there might have been a permission (chmod), or ownership setting I needed to make to allow PTZ to work.
**I felt it necessary to replace the OS with the latest version and upgrade zoneminder to 1.24.4 to make sure the Ubiquiti Aircam I just bought would work. I could not get the Aircam to work in 1.24.2. But as it turned out that's probably because when I was using 1.24.2 I did not get the height/width settings to match the rtsp channel. Once I figured that out, I could have stayed with what I had and those Trendnet's would still be working.
