QNAP problems

I think it must be something obvious but I can't spot it.
I've compiled and got "running" Zoneminder on a QNAP server ( arm based)
but have hit a problem using the following configuration

but I keep getting the following errors in the Zoneminder System Logs window

although Sys::MMAP is installed there is no /dev/shm
The camera for m1 is a remote IP camera ( Tested with a liveCD version of Zoneminder on a pc) but refuses to talk to the qnap zoneminder

Any hints would be great as I 've tried using google but don't seem to be able to use the right keywords to solve this

(that's where I go the hint for the export CFLAGS at the start)

Check the directory where you have zmwatch.pl, maybe is a problem with the startup script for zoneminder, if the path do not match will throw this kind of errors. Please, post the complete log of a service zoneminder restart command.

Who is the owner of the directory /share/Web/zoneminder/streamtmp?. It should be root:root, and the map files should be www-data:www-data. I believe that is a ownership problem, maybe an user with more experience could confirm this.

That was my first thought so I set it chmod -R a+rwx For testing prior to the logs

The map files are never created as far as I can tell.
By the way the distribution from Qnap does not have a user root
but seems to use non-standard user names could that be the reason ?
