Cannot get ZM v1.24.4 to recognize a Hawk-I CCTV camera

Post by BobS0327 »

I have ZM V1.24.4 installed on a Ubuntu server version 11.10 with a Blue Cherry PV149 4 port card 120 FPS Realtime recording capture card. My three analog CCTV cameras are Hawk-I HAWK-1481RCB cameras

My problem is that I cannot successfully add a new monitor for this Hawk-I camera. The cameras were purchased from a reputable security store and the reps claim that the cameras should work with ZM. Thus, I'm assuming that I'm making some type of configuration error on the Add monitor page or that I possilbly have misconfigured ZM. My Add Monitor source tab is as follows:

Device Path: /dev/video
Capture Method: Video for Linux Verson 2
Device Channel: 0
Device format: NTSC
Capture Palette: Grey
Capture Width: 320
Capture Height: 240

I have tried all the assorted options for Capture Palette and none seem to work.

Also, on the General tab:
Source type: Local
Function: Monitor
Max FPS: 15
Enabled is checkmarked

Any advice would be greatly appreciated in solving this problem.
Thanx!

Set Device Path to /dev/video0

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

I changed the Device Path and Device channel as follows:

Device Path: /dev/Video0 Device Channel: 0 The Source on the main page indicates in red /dev/video0 (0)
Device Path: /dev/Video1 Device Channel: 1 The Source on the main page indicates in red /dev/video1 (1)
Device Path: /dev/Video2 Device Channel: 2 The Source on the main page indicates in red /dev/video2 (2)
Device Path: /dev/Video3 Device Channel: 3 The Source on the main page indicates in red /dev/video3 (3)

Didn't have any success with any of the above.

All four channels need to be 0 on the PV-149. Zoneminder doesn't see the cameras at all, it only deals with the capture card. Be sure the card is detected http://support.bluecherrydvr.com/entrie ... leshooting.

I followed the instructions from the Blue Cherry link you posted and attached the results. It appears as though lspci has verified the card is installed. I'm certainly no expert on kernel drivers but in my amateurish opinion, everything looks OK.

I again tried device path set to video0 thru video3 all with device channel set to zero. Still have the same issue.
