Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF on OpenSUSE 12.1

Post by qu1nn »

newbie guidance for Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF on OpenSUSE 12.1:

I can use the camera in xawtv and gucview; but I havent been so lucky in ZM

over the past week I have gotten myself thoroughly confused:
END Goal: To use the Logitech Quickcam Orbit AF (so that I can use the PTZ features via an android smartphone, based on an email notification)

Q1) do I have to use the uvc driver method to use the PTZ features?
Q2) can I use the mjpg_streamer method to use the PTZ features?
Q3) I have seen all kinds of mixing and matching regarding some of the camera settings (format and color pallette), what is appropriate for the Orbit AF?

but First of all I guess that I need to be able to get the device working so that /dev/video(0) doesn’t show up all RED in the ZM - Console.

I have tried ALL types of configurations & mixing / matching with no success.

Getting errors similar to the following while in ZM-Console Log:
