Hello.
For some time, I had in mind a feature, where ZM will be able to recognize movements, and will be able to instruct the camera to track them. We already have the feature of hot areas in ZM; so basically, the algorithm judging whether there is a motion in some part of an image is already there. And now, we have the new version supporting PTZ out of box!
What do you think? (Just don't tell me a possible intruder will be able to fool the cameras by throwing in some objects and distracting ZM by that.)

The zmtrack.pl script in 1.21.0 already does something like this. It's currently just experimental and really just for fun but on cameras where you can map a screen co-ordinate to a movement instruction it works ok. At least it does initially as it's obvious what's movement but if you settle in the field of view for a while and then move it's not always obvious which part of the image is the movement.
Still it works quite well, I mostly use it so that the camera 'glances' towards where initial movement is and then after a few seconds returns to it's 'home' position so it shouldn't get too distracted. However it's certainly not ready for real applications yet, though it is fun to freak people out by having the camera follow them across a room!
