400 Cameras in ZONEMINDER, is possible?
Re: 400 Cameras in ZONEMINDER, is possible?
Nop, the limit is 399 cameras...
Just kidding, look the forum for similar questions. I believe some users have setup very large ZM systems, just search and read, or wait for their answers.

After more than 15 years, no longer using ZM as surveillance system.
Now in the dark side, using a commercial system...

On one server? Unlikely. The biggest I've run is 31 on normal budget hardware.
The limit is hardware of course. ZM should handle that number fine, but such things as network io, disk io, cpu and memory are not infinite. You can do the math for the first two easy enough by working out the filesize of a single jpg from your cameras and multiplying.
What can be done is several different servers, or if you've the money, some sort of clustered system - but there my knowledge caps out.

Im running a Zoneminder server with 52 camera's on it right now. Most camera's are 640x480, Some are 1280x800.
We did purchase a beast of a machine to do this, I can post the specs when I get to work if anyone wants them. Load rarely goes over 4.0.
The biggest challenge we have is disk space! We have about 2.5tb of disk space and this gives us 10 days out on each camera which usually is enough. There's talk that were going to add more as time goes on.
