start and stop zoneminder with an external trigger

Hello,

I've Just started using zoneminder and have it setup and operating with one axis camera with motion detection. What I would like to do is have a way to start or stop zoneminder when I leave for and or return from work such as with a rf remote that one could use from the car?

If your axis camera has external alarm input, you can put a relay into that input which you can control using some kind of remote control. Similar can be done with X10 or equiv. protocol if it doesn't have alarm input. Then you setup the Axis to send a message (tcp / cgi, whatever) to zmpkg.pl stop / start as required.
