Not exactly core zoneminder stuff - but it seems a reasonable place to ask...

I see that a 4 channel D1 recorder with 8 alarm inputs/1 output and RS485 minus HDD is now sub £60 delivered in the UK.

They are ARM SoCs running Linux and the embedded software is getting to be serviceable if not exactly brilliant.

Has anybody seen root credentials around for one of these boxes?

One of the worst things about these boxes is the requirement to use a pretty poor (make that bluidy awful) ActiveX control to view the network streams.

I'd like to "free the streams" and tinker with the alarms - anybody out there seen 'owt that might be useful in this effort?
