Poor performance video playback

Hi All,

I am attempting deploy ZoneMinder within our enterprise and to the most part I believe the process has gone well.
We have approximately 18 cameras now in operation and recording.

Unfortunately the playback of recorded video doesn't really work. Sometimes playback doesn't work at all, this is most of the time and then other times it just plays very poorly. I can review the stills from an event with ease.

I'd also say it takes a few minutes for a live camera feed to become available, very much like performance is an issue.

The box is well spec'd, but I'm at a loss as to where to start.

Could anyone direct me pls.

The host used is a VM on Esxi.
