BTTV card … crashing computer

Hi,
I have been using Zoneminder for sometime and have come to the conclusion that the Cheap (isn) 8 channel 8 chip cards I am buying are ruining my systems….
Without cards the system seems to run fine… with cards the hard drive tends to corrupt and system crash… I have 3 of the things and I am wondering are cheap ones capable of doing such damage ?
I bought from a CCTV dealer on ebay who seemed like he was a reasonably large supplier…. (who shall remain nameless)

Have a 4 chip card that did the same thing. Put heat sinks on the chips and added a case fan and haven't had a problem since
