N00b needs advice on cameras and equipment.

Hi all, I'm wanting to setup a small CCTV system, probably just a couple of cameras to start with(this is just a home project) and may be add more in the future. I'm looking for outdoor cameras with night vision, I've seen a few on ebay but some have video cable connectivity and was wondering how I would connect it to my Linux setup. Like I say I'm a total noob to this and any advice on cameras and cables ect would much appreciated. I'm basically trying to keep it as cheap as possible.

I'd go with wifi cameras. much easier to wire up I only have 1 camera, a foscam.
I just installed it, no idea of its longevity.. try to install them where they won't get
wet.. -t
