Modect recording too much

Post by fafaforza »

Hi there, I have 4 cameras, all set to Modect.

As far as I can tell, they aren't linked to one another (click on relevant "/dev/video" link under "source", under "Linked Monitors" nothing is selected for all of them)

But I still get lots of event images, most of them showing absolutely no action. And a 250gb dedicated drive is barely able to hold one month's worth of video.

What should I look at?

Under Options-Config uncheck CREATE_ANALYSIS_IMAGES

Set resolution to 320x240

Go to the camera Zone and change the Preset to a less sensitive value. Good Idea to record what the settings are before you change them.

Set the MAX FPS to a value of 5.00

I have 13 cameras recording to a 160 GB drive in a very active warehouse and can view images over a month old with the filter set to delete images when the disk gets to 90%

Unchecked, that should limit the space used.

But that still leaves me with many events that are nothing. 3 of the cameras are inside a 6 car garage. So no trees, no garbage being blown around by wind. Just cars standing in place. But I still get the same number of events as the camera pointing at our outside door.

The garage is frequented much much less than the front door.

The size is already 320x240 and set to 2fps max. I must be missing some trick with alarms and setting off other cameras. But none of them are linked as far as I can tell.
