I just upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10 and ZoneMinder fails to start; the following error shows up in the Apache error log:
[Sun Oct 27 10:02:57.752050 2013] [:error] [pid 24598] [client 127.0.0.1:39862] PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected end of file in /usr/share/zoneminder/includes/functions.php on line 2438
It looks like the ZM version in the Ubuntu repository is "zoneminder 1.25.0-4ubuntu2"
I'm well versed in PHP and after spending ~15 min examining this rather large file, I don't see any syntax errors or missing PHP close tags. I'm baffled at this point. Has anyone else experienced this problem or have any recommendations other than blowing away my install and installing the latest version from source?

Is this an upgrade in ZM versions for you? If so, look at the changelog and any upgrade requirements in the source tarball..

Negative; it looks like the ZM version in Ubuntu's repo is still 1.25.0. ZM was not upgraded, though I'm guessing that PHP ~was~ upgraded and now something in ZM's functions.php file is incompatible with the new version of PHP.

Ah, crap, it looks like you're right - PHP has deprecated short tags and apparently the upgrade changed the php.ini file to reflect that. Thanks!mastertheknife wrote:Enable php short tags.

I try to find if it is possible to use a rearback camera from a park aid assist system like this one : PLCM10-License-Rearview-Camera-Vision on Amazon (Sorry I'm newboe on the forum and I can't paste a full URL )
It is unexpensive, waterproof. But is it possible to connect to a Linux System and to ZoneMinder ?
