Repository Broken

Post by Biggus »

Hi All,

I'm having a second go at building my Zoneminder box on Ubuntu 13.10 my first attempt I kept on getting sock errors, so I've flattened the box and started again.
I would like to install the 1.26 version however I have noticed the following.

I add the add-apt-repository ppa:iconnor/zoneminder

then apt-get update
and it fails to fetch the new packages, when I ended up installing zoneminder it installed 1.25, am I right in thinking the repository is broken?

I am unable to post a screen the form states that "your post looks too spamy for a new users please remove off-site URL's"

however the screenshot states:

Failed to fetch http : // ppa. Launchpad /iconnor /zoneminder /Ubuntu /dists /saucey /main.binary-i386 /packages 404 not found

Don't use this repository myself but shouldn't "saucey" be spelt "saucy"

I was just following these instructions:

http://www.zoneminder.com/wiki/index.ph ... e_easy_way

All I want to do is install 1.26.4

(sorry about spelling of urls in the last post, the forum doesn't let me paste links in so I had to manually type it)

Ok, sorry, I forgot you had to copy it by hand.
Just tried it myself and you are quite right, it does give a 404 not found error. You will have to wait until the package maintainer sees this and resolves the problem.

Ok, I'm glad its not only me who is having the issue, Is there anywhere else I could download it from?
It's nothing to do with I'm running 64bit Ubuntu 13.10 is it?

We still have not been able to get any version of ZM to work on Ubuntu 13.10. I suspect it is a problem with the new Apache.
If you want to use ZM just install it on Ubuntu 12.04 and you will have a system that works as a lot of others have found. Yes, you can still have issues with cameras as we all have.

Hi,

Thanks bbunge I'd just like to confirm is it not recommended to use ZM with Ubuntu 13.10? As you probably guessed I still quite a noob to Linux, but I wanted to use my Zoneminder project as a opportunity to get to know it, I just went on to the Ubuntu website and downloaded the latest version, however I now found that this isn't supported long term.
I ended up downloading the Virtual Appliance and sticking it in my VMware environment but found this is only a 32bit machine, I'm going to have a go at building a 64bit version of this on 12.04

Do we know if the apt-get repository has been fixed?

Hi,

I've now built a 12.04 system and the repository works great.

I have had success with Ubuntu 13.10 and Zoneminder 1.25.0. However, there appears to be a problem in the .deb distributed officially through the Ubuntu repositories. I had to manually update functions.php based on some changes made in source that weren't picked up in the .deb that was distributed.

I would be interested in a package for 1.26 when it becomes available on 13.10. It looks like there is currently not a location within the iconnor repo for this.

I tried installing from the ppa on a fresh 64bit 13.10 server box by changing the apt sources to point to the raring package. Lots of socket errors with 13.10 and could not view cameras once I got apache working right if I recall. Ended up going to back 12.04. Seemed easier just to do over due to time constraints. Working very well on 12.04 for me..
