ffmpeg problems again

Will someone please tell me the deal with ffmpeg and zoneminder.
A little history, I would like to use opencv with zoneminder and add some additional features for myself.

1. I install and zoneminder to check it out. Worked fine. according to this (forum would not let me post url)
2.Install Opencv 2.4.7. according to this (forum would not let me post url). Had to remove zoneminder.
Here is where I think the problem comes in.
A. I had to remove ffmpeg and install in from source. version - ffmpeg version N-59471-g06bb1de (whatever that means)
B. opencv ./configure make make install .......
C. Cool opencv works
3. Install Zoneminder, again
A. Zoneminder complains about libavformatXX.

What is the deal with this. Can someone please tell me how to get these two the work together.

I did NOT. I got side tracked. Any ideas, what going on?
