Live view no longer makes pop-ups on mac firefox

I have 1.26.4 and 1.26.5 installed on 2 different machines (centos 6.4 and 6.5 respectively) and the live view doesn't create a popup window on the new version on macintosh firefox, but it works fine on windows firefox. Other windows (configuration, events, options etc) popup, but not the live view, it just replaces the console page with the live view page. The older version works fine on both platforms. It's just enough of an annoyance to post this question

I couldn't find anything in the options menu pertaining to this. Does anyone have a pointer?
