Happy to be of assistance. Zoneminder can be a fickle mistress...those little configuration details can make a really big difference.

I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but when I try to play back recordings from the STD DEF camera, the playback freezes after a couple of frames. The only message I get in the log is:

2014-04-16 15:03:22.583745 web_php 9912 ERR Timed out waiting for msg zm/includes/functions.php 2329

But oddly, the HD camera's recordings work perfectly.

Anyone seen this before?

I'm having problems with the HD camera. A huge number of bad frames as the sun sets. Massive alarms. Its brutal.

I have to figure out if it was a bandwidth issue or a lighting issue.

I've told you G, I'm not moving away from Gentoo and the overhead of the VM is too high.

Update: I get bad partial frames once in a while from the camera. I think its actually bad encoding in the camera. I think this because motion in the mpeg4 stream ends up overlayed on top of the striped image. I think there would be no data from the camera if the packets were bad or lost, not stripes. It seems to happen in the evening when the sun is setting and hitting the camera a bit directly.

This is very reminiscent of the FOSCAM MJPEG fiasco. http://foscam.us/forum/mjpeg-cameras-ha ... t5769.html

I'll bet a dollar to a donut this older HD camera has an encoding problem.

I may have to dump foscam and buy something more reliable (and better in low light).

I've also noticed another problem with ZM: If I increase the number of pre-motion frames / post motion frames, then the playback of the video doesn't work. It hangs after a couple of frames. Very strange.
